Course Description
Building on the basic draping, patternmaking, and sewing skills learned in Construction Techniques I, explore intricate draping exercises to design more tailored apparel and study advanced patternmaking applications. Make muslin tests of garments and use fabric to create a finished garment. Prerequisite: Construction Techniques I or the equivalent.
Course Length - On Campus 12 weeks (6 weeks in summer)

Learner Outcomes
- Draping methods for basic bodice and princess line bustier.
- Draping method for flared skirt, as well as other stylized skirts.
- Designing and draping tailored jacket with notched collar and two piece sleeve.
- Joining and finishing seams on jacket.
- Completion of garment, including facings trimmings, buttons and button holes.

Benefits:
- Become familiar with developing garments through draping and flat patternmaking, using techniques learned in Construction Techniques I class, and building on them to develop more intricate garments.
- Apply this knowledge towards creating and constructing an original design of a tailored jacket.
- Become familiar with various fabric types and yardage , notions and trimmings needed to produce a garment.
- Use proper techniques to layout, cut , hand stitch, machine stitch and finish a tailored garment.
- Develop other original designs using draping, patternmaking and construction techniques practiced in class.
