Course Description

Are you curious to understand how books are made? In this one-week intensive you will learn different book structures - such as soft-cover pamphlets, limp vellum case binding and flat back base with hard covers - that will serve as an introduction to the craft of Bookbinding. This course is open to all levels, from those who are absolute beginners to those who would like a refresher. We will dive deep into exploring pamphlets and case binding throughout the week. This course is interactive so come prepared to create.

Course Length - On Campus 5 days

  • Gain a foundational understanding of bookbinding
  • Develop proficiency in basic and advanced bookbinding techniques
  • Be capable of designing and crafting custom-bound books

Olfa/snap blade or X-acto Knife, Text Weight Paper, Cover Stock, Binders Board, Straight Sewing Needles, Linen Thread, Book Cloth, PVA (glue), Methyl Cellulose (glue)
