Acting and Devised Theatre
COPA 1005
Now Enrolling: Parsons certificate courses and Parsons Academy. Applications are also open for Parsons Summer Intensive Studies courses.
Course Description
This course builds upon the foundational principles of acting to ignite a journey of exploration and performance using devised theatre techniques. While the morning sessions expand students’ acting, voice and speech, and movement skills, afternoon sessions guide students from ground zero of the creative process - before the first idea - through performance. Rooted in collective engagement and radical collaboration, students will develop original performance narratives and refine their analytical skills to shape and present a final work. This course is an excellent opportunity for those who want to expand their theatre training while breathing life into narrative, transformative, original theatrical pieces.
The program is open to all students who meet the age requirements, complete the application, and demonstrate interest and proficiency in theatrical performance.
Audition Requirement: Upload a video of a performance of a contemporary monologue no longer than two (2) minutes.
