Course Description

If you are interested in using cooperative principles to build a more democratic digital economy, then this course is for you. It will allow you to step away from the everyday hustle and learn about concrete economic alternatives, particularly in the digital economy. Whether you are an activist, researcher, technologist, aspiring entrepreneur, non-profit leader, or policymaker, this course will give you the tools you need to navigate this new field.

Through discussion forums, participant presentations, concise lectures, and compelling guest presentations, this course will cover a wide range of topics. Through case studies of existing projects worldwide, the first module investigates cooperative digital ownership models, and their application in industry sectors such as delivery, care, transportation, agriculture, and domestic work. The second module emphasizes the broad vision of a transition to a sustainable, equitable, and cooperative economy. The third part assesses the evolution of Distributed Autonomous Organizations (DAO), crypto, and blockchain in relation to the future of work, unions, co-ops, and governance. The fourth module concentrates on unionized platform co-ops, whereas the fifth section focuses on scaling them. Throughout, we’ll review the history of cooperatives, the cooperative policy landscape, and different types of cooperatives. As a result, if you actively participate in this course, you will leave with a greater understanding of the current state of research on digital cooperativism, be in a position to participate in future debates, and start considering your own business in that space.

If you're interested in making the Internet a fairer, more democratic place, sign up for “Cooperate to Own the Future” today!
