Course Description

“The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it!” Ansel Adams. Dive deep into understanding your DSLR or mirrorless camera and the photographic process. Students will learn best practices for photographing in various settings through hands on practice based exercises. In this fundamentals of photography course, students learn how to construct images using the camera in a manual setting. From shutter speed, ISO, aperture settings students gain a technical understanding while being encouraged to experiment. Through weekly photographic projects students will gain a hands on learning approach to image making. This course is technical in its teaching while supporting the individual creative processes paired with professional techniques giving the student tools to build a strong portfolio.

Prerequisites

Material Requirement: Students must have access to Adobe Lightroom Classic, a digital camera capable of shooting in manual mode with RAW files, camera lens(es), memory card (CF, SD), and external HDD/SSD drives.
