Course Description

College and post-college students explore potentials of architecture and the architectural interior. Students are immersed in the development of design schemes for a complex site in New York City. They refine their skills in measuring, drawing, drafting, model making, and using digital spatial design and representation tools to create a portfolio project of a caliber that can be used to apply to Parsons’ MArch, MFA Interior Design, MFA Lighting Design and other graduate programs with a spatial / architectural focus. The course includes sections titled “Design Studio,” “Representation and Spatial Analysis,” and “Studies in the City”, which bring students together in teams and individually with faculty members. Demonstrations are given in various tools related to project work, including ones for exploring digital 3D modeling, and design for natural daylighting.
