Course Description

An introduction to hand-drafting and the preparation of drawings for interior and architectural purposes. Topics covered include identification and use of drafting equipment, traditional drafting practices, drawing in scale, basic lettering, line weights, standard graphic notations, dimensions and annotations. We will explore typical drawing conventions used by interior designers, architects and the trades that support them. Topics include floor plans, elevations, sections, detail drawings, ceiling plans, orthographic projections and a brief introduction to simple rendering techniques. Trade information related to the practice of architectural and interior design is integrated throughout the curriculum. Learn the skills and techniques necessary to express any design concept graphically. Drafting tools are required. Materials cost approximately $75 to $125.
