Industry Snapshot: Digital Photography

Digital Photography

Looking to take your photography skills to the professional level? In today's digital and increasingly visual world, the demand for skilled photographers is growing. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the job outlook for photographers is much faster than average, with an expected growth of 17% until 2030. As IBIS World points out, this growth could be due to an increase of special events that were cancelled during the outbreak of the pandemic.

Parsons offers a way to learn in-demand photography skills while discovering your own unique style along the way. The Digital Photography Certificate covers technical knowledge of the camera, from aperture to ISO, while presenting opportunities for students to build their creative portfolios. The three courses in this online certificate take six weeks each to complete and students have up to two years to complete the certificate.

"There’s a great value in not just taking a picture, but explaining your intention," said Kaz Senju, certificate creator and visual artist/photographer. "Shutter speed, composing a frame – these are tools inside of your toolbox. My goal is to provide all these tools in six weeks so that each student leaves the class with the intention of building a visual narrative."
